Monique Lewis
Founder & CEO
Next 2 Native Language Learning
My Why
Holistic workplace wellness in construction matters to me because safety, mental health, and leadership all hinge on how well people can communicate and be understood. We treat physical PPE as non-negotiable, yet often overlook that language functions the same way. Language is PPE. When workers cannot fully understand instructions or speak up, risk increases and wellbeing erodes. Clear communication is not a soft skill in construction; it is protective equipment that shapes safety, trust, and human dignity on every job site.

Monique Lewis is the Founder and CEO of Next 2 Native Language Learning, a language-led workforce development firm serving high-risk industries, including construction. Her work focuses on identifying and reducing communication-related risk on multilingual job sites, where language gaps directly impact safety, productivity, and leadership effectiveness.
In addition to industry-specific training for frontline crews, supervisors, and leadership teams, Monique developed the Language Risk Assessment Scorecard, a diagnostic tool that helps companies accurately assess language-related safety and operational risk. By moving organizations beyond assumptions and translation-only solutions, she supports clearer decision-making, stronger communication systems, and safer, more resilient teams.
